I do have Norton on my one computer. I did an update to extend my product. However, it did not work, so I contacted Norton through their online chat. The girl helped me extend for another year. Done, thought that was the end of the story.
A couple hours later I get this phone call from this number, 408-217-0519, saying they were from Norton (the answering machine picked it up) telling me I have a virus on my machine and they can fix it. I blew it off.
On the 20th I got 2 calls. One from 408-217-0363, same person, saying the same thing. I got peed off and called them back. I got through immediately which I thought was strange. I told this nit wit I have no virus, which I do not, and told them they call me again I will report them. He kept asking me my name, I kept avoiding answering. As I was on the phone with this person, my voice mail picked up yet ANOTHER call from 888-456-9707. Some person named Jordan said he was from Yourtech support, based in North Carolina, Microsoft Certified Company, and they can fix my machine???????
I am going to get a hold of Norton on Monday and report all of this. After I talk to them and I find out that this could be a scam, I will call my local news and report it. This seems way too weird to me. First of all, to get MS to help you is like pulling teeth. I do not recall in the 15 years I used MS that ANYBODY calls you out of the blue. AND I NEVER reported I had any virus. Thank goodness the computer is turned off so nobody can get to it until I get this straightened out.
I just had pretty much the same experience as Chuck had, including the Jordon from Your Tech(?). Sounds like a huge scam. One of them wanted to take over my computer to fix a hacker issue.
these jickeyjacks called me just now...Yesterday I was mislead and only after they tried to solicite 369 bucks for " repairs" I contacted Norman Tabanao , employee id 229965 at Norton and they were agast ,,Fixed me right up and for free.....Norman also sped up my laptop and deleted unnecessary stuff
