Caller from a local number, keeps leaving autodialer messages on the answering machine, usually cut off. I intercepted partway into message, got a "press 1 to speak to representative" instead of just the "Press 3 to be removed" on the machine. Pressed 1 to see who kept calling, was told callers were waiting, so I hung up. Instant callback. Said he was from the "credit card bureau" and could lower my credit card rates to 6.99%. I asked "so how do you do that?" hoping to get more info, because I figured it was a scam. Oh, do you have Visa or Mastercard. Sure, I said. "We work with your bank to get your interest lowered." Started on about how it was part of the Obama plan. I said "So who are you? Are you a credit repair bureau?" No, we work with "your bank." What bank. "Your bank." Started on about how this is the last chance, and if you don't sign up now, they will raise your credit card rates. Last chance, don't hang up. They will raise your rates if you do. I said "Well, that's life," and hung up. A blocked number immediately called back with the autodialer. No caller ID. The callback call lists a J. Maynard (isn't Maynard the name of the Lifelock guy?) and the number above.
