Kathy, this was a great post. Thank you for the information. I'm pretty easy going but I'm now really starting to hate my phone. It's very rude to have your phone ring, you pick it up and no one is there. I've had the same number for 42 years. It's active so I should at least get a person on the other end when I pick it up... :-(( A screening machine is a great idea and I will look into it but at the end of the day why should I have to buy something else to prevent people from using my phone number without my permission. Also, shame, shame on ATT for selling the list. Does everything always have to be about money?

Why doesn't ATT stop selling these unused numbers. We should start complaining to att about this and get them to stop this problem that they arte promoting. Boycott att. Or better yet, forward these calls to ATT support.
Weird - i hear a female voice (a rather rough-sounding female) saying 'so where's my dad now ? is he somewhere in Cupertino or San Jose?' (since i live in that area i answered and said 'perhaps you have the wrong number' -- got a hangup for my efforts)
I continually been getting calls from 408-428-9860 and no answer by person on the other end. Scam or checking to see if I am home. How do I get this number blocked?
