Today I received three calls all from this number. When I pick up the line I get dead air. If I redial I get a message telling me that all operators were helping other customers and I would be helped by the next available. After about 20 seconds the call gets disconnected. After some research on the web it seems that the line is registered to the Mercury-News 408-538-5110. Got them blocked now!
I didn't list the Caller Company below, the Mercury News information is from another reporting site. Mercury News may or may not still own this number.
I get at least 5 to 6 calls from this number everyday...The # displays on my TV screen when i am watching TV...during my early mroning news as well as late evening shows...most annoying thing...I wish they would stop harassing people.
One thing I've noticed is that these people only call me when I'm late on my car payment. They say they're the SJ Mercury News, but I have a solid hunch that it's part of a skip tracing service to locate people who are behind on a bill or whatever. Call me paranoid, but one of my good friends works for a company that does this same kind of thing, so I know it happens.
DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY INFO!! Answer and get as much info as you can about THEM and threaten to report them to the BBB or FTC if they do not stop calling. I know I have asked them several times to stop calling me, but they still do.
