I just received that phone call. It was a young guy in his twenties (my age) and I regret I didn't question him more. All he did was ask for the model and the make and mileage of the car, and then said that my warrenty was expired and that it was my chance to renew it for 5 years at like 2000 something dollars and i could pay it in full and get a 400 discount and that's been popular with people... i asked what company it was and he said it was greyline insurance or something like that. i said i'd think about it (i knew it had to be a scam...they didn't have enough information!) after i told him i'd bought it used and it didn't have warrenty, and he said i could call back but my file would be erased. he also said that they sent out a 4 by 5 postcard but right away stated that it could have easily have gotten lost in junk mail... so if i found that card and used the id number on the back i could try to call back. b.s.! this is a total scam, he was totally not interested in me when i told him I wasn't going to do it.
Same story -- about a warranty, etc... When I pressed 1 to talk to a representative she asked for the make, model. I said "no... tell me who you're representing" and she hung up. courtesy call schmertesy call.
