They have been calling me in California at least twice a day and the evening calls. They never leave any messages. I have never answered, but the caller does not give up. I am tired of these type of calls. I am on the National Do Not Call List and California States Do Not Call list.
They called at 5:05pm CDT. When I answered there was no one there. I called the number back & got a recorded message saying... "We are sorry if we reached you in error. We only purchase lists of businesses to contact. Please press one to be removed from our calling list"
I just received a call from this phone number where they asked me to press 1 to see if I'm eligable for lower interest rates. I pressed 1, and the person who picked up the phone said he was from Card Services and works for Visa and MasterCard to lower my interest rates. They claimed they were providing a service under the fair trade commission where Visa and MasterCard are required by law to call to offer lower interest rates if payments are made on time for 6+ months.
Long story short - they asked for my account number and after much deliberation and skepticism - i gave it to them. He then connected me to another person who asked for my expiration date. When I declined to give my expiration date he told me he couldn't help me and 'don't I want a lower interest rate to save money?' I ended up hanging up without providing my expiration date.
Before I hung up, I asked them for their corporate number and they did give me the real Visa corporate number (I verified it on the Visa website). I called Visa and spoke with a representative. He told me Visa never makes phone calls and that definitely wasn't from them.
Now I have put an alert on my account that I gave my card number for. There weren't any fraudulent charges made yet, but it has only been 20 minutes.
Been getting calls from them for several weeks. It is a recorded message telling me I'm eligible to reduce my credit card rate. I think it is just a scam to get my information. I/ve tried calling it back and their answering machinge states that if they called in error I can have my number deleted. It doesn't work. I'm getting up to 5 calls a day.
