Just got a call at 12:29.  My caller ID said San Jose.  I did not answer.  Interesting that I got a call at 11:44 from Fresno 559-512-6424.  Did not answer that one either.  Are these from the same party or just a coincidence?  The only people stopped from calling those on the Do Not Call list are those that are honest.

Got a call at 12:37. I didn't answer...I have a call blocker app on my phone so that it won't even ring if the caller isn't in my contacts list, it only logs the call and sends it to voice mail. Highly recommended.

Whenever a call comes in that we do not recognize as one of our regular contacts, we just look at the caller id and ignore.
Later, we go into our Verizon settings and add the number to the call block list. One of the problems that allows people to get scammed by crooks is that one should remember that if you have not entered into any sweepstakes, or applied for any credit, or shopped at any store (whether online, or in person) where you applied for their card or gave your email or phone number, then you are going to be scammed, spammed, and/or conned, for maybe all of the above.

The rule of thumb is that you know whether or not you have requested contact with the number that is calling or not.  If it is not family, work, business related, emergency from your doctor or hospital, "Do not pick up" or answer.

When you answer the phone, you are confirming that your phone number is a valid number.  When you select the option in an email for them to remove your name from their list, this allows them to remove your name from one of their lists and pass you on to another of their lists or list of associates.  In other words, you are setting yourself up for indefinite contact from a multitude of partners. If ignored, eventually they will go away.  It may even take up to a year, but eventually they do go away, because your phone number of email is not a prospective investment of their time.

Also, if you allow it to go to voicemail, that too, assures them that your number is valid as you have pick up message on your voicemail. By doing this, you allow them to harass you via voicemail as well, even though this is voicemail, eventually, this will become full and you will not be able to get important messages left in your voicemail.  Just ignore the call.

Caller ID said "OCC Philippin."  I did not answer, did not let machine answer (which would only confirm that mine is a working number)."

Called twice -- the first time the phone rang 4 times, the second time it rang only once.

I find a website for something called "Operation Christmas Child," which seems to be an evangelical effort among children in the Philippines.  At the site, I find written:

"Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love. Since 1993, more than 61 million shoe boxes have been packed, shipped, and delivered across the globe. People of all ages can be involved in this simple, hands-on missions project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas" — Jesus Christ.

Somehow I doubt that Jesus Christ ever actually said those words.

Untrustworthy, all the way around.

Operation Christmas Child is a real non-profit organization and is part of the Billy Graham Association.  They do collect shoe boxes with toys and personal hygiene products, but I doubt this phone call is from the Billy Graham Association.  I have donated filled shoe boxes for at least 10 years and have never received a phone call.  This is probably a scam.  Beware.
