Same here. Multiple calls that I had missed. When I picked up, the phone rang on my side 2 times. A man with an Indian accent told me he had my student loan application and asked me if I was still interested in a student loan? When I told him I didn't have a student loan, he hung up.
Probably a spoofed number. The caller ID said the call was from San Jose, California, but the woman on the line had an Indian accent. She had my full name, address, and phone number on file, and was trying to see if I wanted a loan. I tried to keep her on the line as long as I could by asking inane questions, but she caught on that I was suspicious of the scam, and she hung up.

This number (most likely spoofed) called my cell phone four times within the last few days, including twice today only 4 hours apart. They hold on just long enough to trigger the voicemail, but they don't leave any message.
I don't have any blocking available (I use Virgin Mobile). What I do is add these numbers to a contact I created named named Scam Spam. That contact is set to go directly to voicemail, so at least my cell phone doesn't ring when one of these SOBs calls after the first time. Still have to call voicemail to delete their annoying empty "messages" though.
