Listen folks. Everyone that took time to make a note about this number needs to understand that I am leaving a complaint with the FTC. The telephone companies are giving these crooks numerous numbers and they know that we are all being harassed. They don't care! Please call the FTC and let them know that our rights are all being violated and this list Is all the evidence that they need. I answered the call politely and said that I do not recognize this number, who are you calling me? I am on the do not call list as well some of you. The telephone companies are giving numbers out to customers that have a number of calls that last 2 seconds and they don't find that peculiar. Call the telephone companies and the FTC to stop giving telephone numbers to scammers. It is easy for them to tell that at least 18 people have been connected to (408) 649-7261 and did not talk long enough to have a conversation. Please contact your telephone company and the FTC to stop this because they know and you know we are being harassed.
Got a hang up call from same number = UNIFIN, INC. was what I found when I searched the number .
Yeah - we are on DO NOT CALL list too, but have to reinstate our tel number it seems after 2-3 years...still, WE HAVE BEEN PAYING FOR AN UNPUBLISHED TELEPHONE NUMBER FOR YEARS, ALL MY LIFE I HAVE...there needs to be a serious class action lawsuit for anyone paying for, and who has paid for an unpublished telephone number...what are we paying for if it does not work? The do not call list is another joke, that only is a bandaid to this overall huge issue.
So while I was typing the above note for the 408-649-7261 (Northern CA = 408 area code) number, another call came right after it, for yet another hang up caller, in New York - 631-407-1169. Blocked both numbers. This is ridiculous.
With high speed computers doing the dialing, many scammers do not bother with lists. You number is just a number, the next one in line. The DNC is the world's worst call blocker. Most of the call you get are done by crooks, and crooks break the law with little risk if they are in the USA, and NO risk if they are outside the USA. Reclaim your privacy, get call blocker.
- Also, as I understand it, re-registering your number with the Do Not Call may be a mistake, it creates a period for callers to legally call, or something like that. You can double check your registration, that is OK.
- You are right to about paying for a private number, this is not a step that protects you from telemarketing calls.
