Got a text message from this number saying her name was Sherry Jones and she was hearing impaired. She was looking for contractors to do work in a house that she just bought in Pittsburgh, PA. She asked if we accepted credit cards. I thought it might have been a scam. I Googled her name with the words hearing impaired and it turns out that this person has been doing similar messages all over the country. Definitely a scam.

Got texts too from "Sherry Jones", saying she was hearing impaired, asked about remodeling a house she had supposedly just bought in Rapid City, SD and did I accept credit cards as payment. Seemed fishy so I Googled the name and # and it lead me here. I played along to see what her end game was and her story was that she wanted to have me run her credit card for $5,150. $1,000 to go to me as a deposit for work she wanted done on the house, $4,000 of it she wanted me use for a cash deposit to the former owner of the house she had just bought to finish paying for the property and then the former owner would give me the keys to the house to be able to do the work, and the last $150 I was to keep as a tip. Claimed she was in the hospital and was going to have surgery in a week and would I "please for the love of god do me this favor". I played along over the span of about 3 hours while I was grocery shopping and running errands until she asked, "Are you ready for my credit card to run for the charges now while i hold for receipt?" I said, "Sure.. Are you ready to verify your identity?" To which she replied, "What did you mean? " So I said, "Can you verify your identity to ensure that you are the credit card owner and that the card isn't stolen or otherwise fraudulent?" I never got another text from her. Should be noted that she did switch phones just before she started pushing about running her card information, 401-250-3653 is the second # that she was texting from.
