I likewise received this unsolicited text message at 4:40 PM eastern time on 10/26/2010 from 408-830-6153 reading:
"Do you need extra cash today? You qualify for a payday loan up to $900, Receive loan within 1 hour. Reply "PayDay" for more information. Fast, easy, convenient"
Yea this is bull crap! Who the heck gave these guys my number. The message reads " Need extra holiday cash? You qualify for a payday loan up to $900.00, Receive loan within 1 hour. No credit check required. Reply "payday" for more information."
Like come on really? First off just the thought of getting a "loan" over text message seems sketchy enough but a measly 900.00 loan at that? In today's economy what would $900.00 get anyone besides a full tank of gas for once?
I'm in Mississippi and I got the txt too. Except it was to my Verizon number which I only use for wireless high speed internet and consequently, it cost me .20 for the received txt. I called Verizon but they didn't want to remove the text charge. I am currently with ATT and I can say that they always offer to remove any unwanted txt or phone calls charges. Was about to change all my phones to Verizon but since they are so greedy I will just stay with ATT. Anyways, they did put a txt messaging block on my account and that will solve the problem but I feel like everyone else....how do we stop these unsolicited txt? Ahhh the power of the cyberworld.
