Ready for this I discovered yesterday they made a $357.00 withdrawal from my checking account. Now I'm stuck without money because I can not do anything until it actually posts and now my account is offer drawn.
I just had a call from them. She said she was calling from the "American Benefit Union", and that I had been sponsored for something, and someone would come by my house this evening to deliver it. I asked if they were a for profit company, and she said yes. I then asked where they got my number, and she said that I must have been sponsored by a friend, neighbor or family member. I asked who, and she said that the person that would come by would have more information. I said that they were violating federal law by calling me, because I am on the Do Not Call list, and that I would report them. She said, ok, goodbye. I suggest that everyone report them at https://www.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx

I got Call me on my cell phone from this number and they said they want to come in my home, i said i am not home right now and then she replied that we can come any time you want...."American Benefit Union", its a faurd and unlawful activity... everyone call for legal help and report.
Received call from "AMER BENEFITS" at 8PM tonight. I asked if we had an existing business relationship. She said that we did not, but that I had been "sponsored" by someone to receive some sort of benefits... She didn't know by whom I was sponsored, and couldn't explain what "sponsored" means. I explained that I am on the Do Not Call registry, and that, as a result, they could not call me. "Oh, yes we can, because you were sponsored..." I asked for her name, her supervisor's name and their business address, explaining that this "sponsored" business was evidently some scam that her employer had cooked up to get around the DNC registry. She hug up.
I found several other threads on this site (http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-408-984-0122, http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-408-984-1375) that contain additional details about this company, and tried calling back at several of the numbers found in the thread. I finally reached "Deborah" at 1-408-984-1375, who became instantly combative when I explained about my earlier call, explaining that "we're just a bunch of girls here and we have kids to feed and families to raise" and so forth, then hung up on me. I tried again, and she hung up as soon as I said "Hello, how are you this evening?"
Then I blocked caller ID and called back, all sweetness and light in my voice as I asked whether she knew about a call I'd received from this business earlier, in which I'd tried to talk about the DNC registry, but got cut off. She spoke off-phone to another of the "girls" who said that I was very rude so she hung up on me.
1-408-984-1375 is apparently the official number of the business, which she called "American Benefits Union". I asked if I could call back during business hours, when it wasn't just "the girls trying to make a living", but when the boss was around. She gave me his name: Harry Mayo (confirming info found in the other threads) and that they are in "a big building on Moorpark", but none of them knew the address. She believed that Mr. Mayo would be in the office tomorrow during business hours. I'll be giving him a call.
