I just got a call from them, same story. She said she was with "American Benefit Union". Wouldn't tell me who 'sponsored' me, wouldn't leave the information on my porch, I asked what their website was and she said they didn't have one. Fishy, but what really took the cake was when she said she needed BOTH my husband and I to be home to receive it.
Creepy.
Received a call from someone who stated they were with "American Benefits Union". Was told I had been "sponsered", but they wouldn't tell me by whom. When I asked for a website, they stated they didn't have one. They wanted to ensure that both my wife and myself would be home between 7 and 8. I dodged that answer with more questions to them about what type of business they were in and the lady wouldn't answer. She just stated that someone would come by my house to drop off a package and talk to me for 5 minutes. Ten minutes later a gentleman calls (probably to confirm the original cold call from the first lady). When I questioned him as to what his business was, he hung up on me. Currently waiting to see if they show up tonight, so I can give them my earnest thoughts about their horrible telemarking tactics. :-) I also checked on the web via a couple of search engines and nothing comes up for this company (tried various spellings, etc).
However, "IF" the caller ID of "Amer Fraternal" stands for "American Fraternal Union" (Conjecture based on caller ID plus their verbal name of "American Benefits Union", then they are an Insurance organization.
