Just recieved a phone call from this number claiming to be "Global Tech something or other" regarding my Microsoft Computer. At the end of each of his sentences he asked "ok?" This man was very hard to understand with his broken English. (He sounded Asian) He told me that Microsoft contacted his company about a virus on my computer. Please go to my computer now and get online. I said "no, I don't think so...this sounds like a scam to me" and hung up. He immedietly called back and asked, in pretty good English this time, why I hung up on him. When I said, "I told you, this sounds like a scam to me", he asked why.
I first asked how he got my phone number...he said from Microsoft when I registered my computer. (his broken English was back now) He then said something about my version of windows being XP or 7. Ah Ha!! I told him I didn't have XP or 7.....he asked me why I didn't and which one I had. Ah Ha again!! "You should know what I have if Microsoft gave you my information." I said my "goodbyes" and hung up. I really believe that there is a 99% chance this was a scam .....which leaves 1% that it is not. If this was that 1%, I will take my chances with a virus..... I'll bet a lot of people fall for this 1. because the word "virus" scares them and 2. the man is hard to understand.
