Just received a call from this number from the Texas State Troopers Association asking for a donation. I told the caller he had reached a business office, he still asked for a donation. I told him no, he asked me for a personal donation. I told him no thank you and he said a donation of just $20 would greatly help. I emphatically said, NO, THANK YOU and hung up. Here we go again. These scammers are relentless. I can't believe the Texas Attorney General's office can't stop this from going on.
This is a scam to get donations. The calling group operates on a commission and is not comprised of current or former peace officers. Never ever give to these FOR PROFIT companies. If you want to support peace officers in Texas, The One Hundred club is the way to do it < www.the100club.org > (sort of a widows and orphans fund for cops that get killed).
Person identified himself as "Joshua", calling for Texas State Troopers Association. Asked he remove our name from his call list. Says it's their first time calling---it isn't. Checked online re: removal legal requirements and learned "non-profit" organizations are not required to cease calling when asked----so, this will continue as long as they claim they are seeking nonprofit donations. Seem to be receiving cold call nonprofit donation requests more frequently lately.
