Got a call this evening. Asked for my husband by first and last name. She, with heavy accent, said to him, "I see you have student loan debt, are you interested in making it go away?" He asked her, "where are you calling from, what company are you with?" She started to tell him that she could make it go away but when he asked for the company name again, she hung up. BTW we are in Baltimore and indeed this is not a valid Baltimore exchange.
We both knew it was a scam. However, they knew that the student loan was the one he co-signed with his daughter. Be careful. It doesn't take much for scammers to locate your information.
I keep getting a call from someone saying they are with Student Financial Center. They said they I may qualify for student loan forgiveness. The 2 numbers that have called my cell phone is 410-121-2456 and 410-120-2023. I am afraid I may have given them too much information. They asked how much my loans were for including my debt like credit cards and medical bills. I estimated the amounts. She said she would call me back. The first time they called was 10/28/2015 the second time was today 11/2/2015. I first time her name was Layla. The second time she sounded the same but her name was Athena Gomez. I'm sure it is a scam.
