I did not answer cause I was eating dinner but when I called the number back the recording immediately went to "if you would like to be placed on our -(do not call list) press the number 1 now" I was no fool to do that !!! I would love to find out who called and why and better yet HOW they got my number --- I will call the number back a few more times to hear the pre-recorded responses and if it changes. This is intriguing LOL ! Why would I put someone on my "do not call" list if I do not know who even called --caller ID is "Customer Care" FOR WHO ????
When you called the unsolicited number back it was already too late. They caught you number in their caller ID and so learned that you were a real person. However, I must confess that I do call the numbers back and if given a choice to press 1 for customer service or 2 to be removed from the calling list (which never happens), I press one and then complain to the marketer in every way I know. Years ago I knew a kid who took a telemarketing job after school. She told me they were required to keep talking and not hang up until AFTER the prospect had said "NO" four times. Supervisors checked on them. She came to hate the job because of the complaints of the callees. So, I let 'em have it...down and dirty! to give them headaches before their shift is done. To make them hate to come to work. To convince them through negative reinforcement to want to quit. If companies suffer severe turn over, it drives up their costs. If unhappy callers become snippy, company sales taper off. Just consuming their work time reduces productivity. If every callee conducted a harassment campaign against unsolicited telemarketers, the industry would suffer. I'm all for that.
