This guy Bill (the "Bill" collector) calls from Werthingten something or other and demands payment for my Merris bill.  I paid it because I never ever want to talk to him again. EVER!

Caller claims to be calling from a law office but doesn't follow FDCA rules?! Sounds like a scam to me.

He's lying about calling from a law office. NO such loaw office exsists in Maryland

How honest can this company be when they hide their identity??

Here's a little information on this law firm:

In September 2004, the EEOC's Baltimore Office filed suit against Worthington, Moore, & Jacobs, a collection agency operating out of Ellicott City, Maryland. The complaint, filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland and brought under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, alleged that the company president sexually harassed a number of female employees, and that the company retaliated against those who complained.
