Constantly changing phone numbers supposedly calling on behalf of the police. If you actually get a person, they are vague when you ask which police department. If you ask them to stop calling, the guy on the line gets even more pushy and aggressive. If you push back and get annoyed/upset or even just firmly insist they stop calling you, they start calling even more often. They are relentless, the calling is essentially harassment, and if you block the number they just use another number and another and another......
I listed it as a prank call because I am skeptical how much, if any, money actually goes to the police and because the calling is so harassing it borders on malicious.
Did not answer, and will NOT answer any unknown/unexpected caller...thus gets old as we have unlisted/unpublished phone # & are on the DO NOT CALL registry..the latter we pay for!
Received a call from this number a couple of hours ago. Just another "unknown jacka$$" who refuses to leave a message about whatever worthless junk they're trying to sell. BTW...the DO NOT CALL registry is a joke...don't waste your money on either unlisted numbers or the DNC. Instead spend $40-$75 bucks on a reliable call blocking device. I have a Sentry which only cost $40 (I believe their most recent version costs close to $60) but it works like a charm. Once you blacklist a number, that number will never be able to ring your phone or leave a VM ever again!! The peace and quiet far surpasses the cost of the device!!
Also, the only people who obey the DNC list are legitimate telemarketers; politicians and charities do not have to follow the DNC. Add to that the fact that at least 90-95% of the calls I receive from unknown numbers are scammers and thieves. They are only looking to get your personal and/or credit card information, and are most likely based in India and/or Pakistan. They could also be calling just to see if a live person answers the call so that your number can be put on a list of live numbers and sold to legitimate telemarketers. They couldn't care less about the DNC list...and I don't blame them. They know that nothing is being enforced and that they can do this all day long, day after day, without consequence.
And last but not least...do you really think that something this government came up with would work?? If you do, then you're gonna continue to be scammed by these thieves for a long time to come!! Good luck to ya!!
I so agree with your comments, it gets annoying to have constant unknown, private caller numbers coming thru on a daily basis. I'm also on the DNC list & have updated recently to no avail, why even bother having one if no one is going to adhere to it anyway! Plus the ones who call & when you do answer they NEVER say a word, grrr!
