They've been calling all this past week. They just called again, I answered but didn't say anything so they hung up. I called them right back and he said "Oh uh thanks for calling back.." then he said something about being police then it went silent, I said hello and he said "Oh there's no message, I'll call back and try again later." ..what??!
As soon as you pick up the phone you can hear the background noise of a call center while it shifts you to an operator. Caller greets you in a typical spam kind of way..."Hello John, How are you today, I'm Fred and I...." so I hung up.
The only calls that I get other than family is unwanted calls (telemarketers, scammers, beggers, borrowers, stealers, etc.). Anyways, I let this call go to my answering machine, but the caller hung up. The Caller ID says Carnegie PA.
Guy who answers is actually a computer program. If you interrupt him, whatever he's saying cuts right off. He's programmed to respond to "Hello" "Yes" "No" and "I'd like to donate (insert dollar amount here)". When you agree to donate, he/the computer then connects you to a live agent.
