We've been called several times by this number, no message. I picked up once since the call was from an area code where I know people, but as soon as I heard nothing but silence on the other end I hung up just in time to catch the telemarketer(?) pick up the line. We are on the do not call list.
We get calls from this number daily. Sometimes 2-3 times per day. We have caller ID and the screen shows that the number is associated with AMVETS. My daughter picked up the phone once and the caller launched into some bizarre message thanking us for past donations (we've never given them anything). She said she'd pass on the message, but they still keep calling. This morning I picked up the call after they phoned twice in 10 minutes and just heard silence.
I hate to say it, but I really think that charities and non-profits should be added to the do-not-call legislation. They've gotten to be as bad as telemarketers!
