Police charity robocall SCAM. Don't give these people a penny (if you want to support police charities, give to them directly rather than letting these robocall jerks collect an obscene percentage of the donation).
"hello is debra there" - didn't say anything-- asked again-- I responded "no" - it repeated the phrase , rang once, then the same voice rattled off about donations for the police department and asked if they could count on our donation and send a sponsor envelope. I didn't say anything to see if would loop so I could catch the name and report it, and but the same voice from the recording said "hello, are you there". I asked specifically if this was a robo call or a person, he stated he was a real person and using a computer to help him. I stated this isn't the person they asked for and to please remove me from their list and he said "okay" and I hung up.
Be careful saying "yes" everyone-- one of the stations ran a story on the calls that ask for a name so they can record a "yes". I don't know that it was one of these, but definitely a scam. Showed up as a local number, only answered due to new clients and thinking it was one of them.
Seems this is the season from scam calls. Have gotten in the habit of responding to "is this Tim?" with 'speaking', sometimes they will ask again, and they get the same answer. They go into their spiel of "can we count on your contribution, or renewed contribution of $XX. I then respond that I do not take solicitations over the phone, wish them well and hang up
