I received a call at almost 8:00 at night from these jerks who couldn't even bother to leave a message.
If they are legit 8:00 at night is NOT the time to be calling people.
I added them to the DONOTCALL list and blocked their number.
It's a Market Research company that wanted to speak to an 'Adult Male'. I answered the phone (we don't have caller ID) but they didn't get very far after that. They are obliged to give you the company name & phone number which I used to look up their address on line. Then I called the Attourney General for our state and found out what to do. I'm filling out a form to complain about them.
The guy freaked me out since he seemed to think I'd 'just threatened him for no reason' when I said that he had better not call our house again.

These guys called me a couple hours ago, and asked me a bunch of questions about my area tv stations, radio, lawyers, hospitals, and such. I didn't get paranoid until the end of the survey, when they asked me about my home address, saying they'd enter me into some contest. The guy I was talking to didn't know anything about where he worked, but his supervisor just caved like real quick- gave me their phone number, address and the names of some of his higher ups. I just got off the phone with my husband's buddy who works in my state's Attorney General's office, and he said somebody filed a complaint against these guys last year and- get this- what they're doing is totally legit! What a load off my mind, cuz who knows what wackos are out there these days! Oh, and my hubby's friend said that if we don't want them to call, we gotta tell them not to call our number every year (something about the law with survey companies)
Yeah I used to work for this company. It's a legit business. Sometimes they award you with cash at the end of the survey, sometimes it's a contest, sometimes it's nothing. It all depends on the client that hired them to do the marketing survey. You can be assured they are hired by one or more businesses in your area to get a feel for what businesses and marketing you know and use. It's just a tool to try and make the companies in your area tailored to suit your needs. And remember, most of these call reps hate this more than you do, but they need to put bread on their tables too.
I work for this company. It is legitimate. The surveys cover 10-15 categories of business as well as some basic demographics and media habits (tv programs watched, radio, newspaper)- It's basically an alternative to Nielson. The reason we ask the address at the end of some of our surveys is that there is a supplemental survey that we send out. It's 8 pages of additional questions. If those questions were included in the phone survey, the interview would last over an hour. We do, in fact, hold drawings and a 500 dollar gift card is awarded to the winners. We do thousands of interviews per week all over the country.
