I received a text from 412-680-5617 saying: "Your entry last month has won! Go to [provided URL] and enter your Winning Code: #### to claim your free $1,000 Best Buy Giftcard!"
I went to the website and it asks for my email, physical address, and phone number. In the small print at the bottom, it has: bestbuy.thegiftcarddeal.com. According to the small print, it is NOT affiliated with Best Buy or any other retail company. Plus, I don't remeber entering into any sort of contest with Best Buy last month, as the text says I did. When attempting to close the webpage, it gives you pop-ups saying something about all you have to do is complete a survey (or something like that).
I would think that who ever is calling from this number is also doing the texting. Doesn't really seem all that legit, if you ask me.
