Got a call and message from this #, Anthem Blue Cross, which I have coverage under my husband, Message said "wanted to make sure I have the best and up to date coverage".
Got a call like Cat, so I called Anthem Member Services...
Yes, they do have a service that makes customer computer calls.
Yes, it does leave a 1-855-209-xyzz phone number to call back.
They have call centers at various places around the United States, so they guy I talked to could not say that this was -the- place they call from.
He was willing to give me their phone number if I would like to stop the automated calls...I declined because I don't mind calls from legit businesses that I actually DO business with :-)
Robocall from 412-894-9344 claiming to be Anthem Blue Cross, which is my insurance provider through my employer. This number originated in PA and I do have a PA cell number, tho I live on the West Coast.
First part of message said "We want to make sure you have the best and most up to date coverage".
Asked for my birth year (which I gave - I have a very unique name and it's public info on several websites)
Next part of robocall said they had recently sent me literature about my health (not true).
Next part of call told me that it appeared I was due for my next annual medical review (Pap smear).
Next part of call asked if I planned to schedule my annual Pap smear.
I declined to answer and attempted to select "0" for operator. "0" ignored and same question prompted again.
I did not answer but it must have taken background noise as an answer and it moved on to another question.
Call asked *where* I planned to schedule my next pap smear.
I hung up the call and asked HR if they could look into the legitimacy of the call.
HR just responded to me with an email directly from our Anthem representative stating the following:
"I have never heard of this. Anthem does not call telling member to set up another doctor’s appointment."
Your mileage may vary, but a quick search of the internet looks as if this number is generating calls for several supposed health providers. The personal information in the call implies that the call does have personal data about individuals, so folks may want to file a complaint with their providers to log the phone number.
