This number called our business today at 1522 hours. Caller ID just said "Springfield MA." When I picked up and gave my usual spiel, I could hear some background noise and some guy talking to someone. Then he said, "Hello?" I said hello in return. He disconnected. So I don't know what that was about but considering it was a VoIP number and they have a habit of disconnecting on people, I suspect it was just another scam artist at work. Well, I just blocked my call information and called the number back. It's not even a legitimate number so, yeah, just another scam artist idiot.
Daily automated calls asking for someone who doesn't live at our location. Using their system prompts to note that person doesn't live here does not work. I called the number a couple of times and a guy hangs up, without me allowing to tell him anything.

These idiots called our business again, this time, today at 1601 hours. Again, caller ID said, "Springfield MA." When I picked up and did my thing, I heard the familiar "Bloop!" of an auto-dialer transferring the call to the next available scam artist. A nasal-sounding woman said, "Hello?" As before, I said hello in return. This time the call was not disconnected at that point. She asked if I was the one in charge of the electric bill. I slammed the phone in her ear. It's a VoIP number, which is automatically suspicious to me because all the legitimate companies I know actually have a real phone number. Scam artists, on the other hand, just love using VoIP because they can hide their identity and location from the unwary consumer and the law. I wish I hadn't lost patience with her immediately (it's been that kind of day.) I should have strung her along a little but I have actual legitimate business to attend to.
Call was picked up by answering machine and all the caller said was, "hello". Comes up as Springfield. Got about 5 calls yesterday with different locations as well. Ho-Hum. Do people actually get paid to do this?
