Caller ID says "Colrain MA". They leave no message.
I call back shortly thereafter (using *67 to block my number). Their outgoing message is "Thanks for calling. The survey you were called for has now finished. If you would like to be removed from our list for future calls, please, press 9." (I never do this as it can actually make things worse)
Interesting that they went from wanting my opinion to all set in a couple of hours. They spoof their caller ID. When you call them back, they don't identify the survey firm's name. Finally, you can't actually reach someone there. Smells like a SCAM. I have dealt with real surveys like Gallup; they don't operate this way.
I have had a ton of "surveys" calling lately. They seem to represent different things: Republicans, Democrats, Green energy, etc. I suspect one of two things:
1) Some kind of phishing scheme. They likely start with generic questions and lead to more specific questions that can be used for some type of identity theft.
2) Some group that will learn your hot button issues. At some point (possibly with a later call) they will parrot back your views and will request money to make them happen.
