They called my husband, who is LE, and advised they were investigating me for grand theft. They wanted money by 1:00 PM or they were going to have Bell County come to my job and arrest me. He asked them why our county wasn't investigating the "theft". The lady who called refused to answer. My husband advised he was a police officer and none of this made sense. She yelled, "Well you can just tell your wife you screwed this up for her!"

We know plenty of officers, to include almost all the investigators at Bell County SO. Please don't fall for this scare tactic. These people use old, old collection records and start contacting you asking for money or they will have you arrested. I have been called by two different numbers in the course of 2-3 years using my maiden name and the name of a bank I used 10 years ago, enough of the truth to scare someone who is afraid of going to jail. Lucky for me, I know from working in law enforcement how these things work. Pass the word and keep people from being scammed into handing over their money to these people. They are rude, threatening, and most importantly NOT THE POLICE. They are NOT able to put you in jail. They are NOT a collection agency, who is not allowed to bully people into handing over money.
