This was a legit fraud call from US Bank. I called back to 877-737-6844 and there was fraudulent activity on my debit card. I even had my husband log in to our internet banking from home to verify before I called. Apparently, some scam company was charging $5 to my card just to see if it was active before charging a much larger sum. US Bank was aware of the scam and put a freeze on my card. Wow, that was close!
Just received a call from this number. Appears to be US Bank fraud prevention. I had attempted to purchase something from Men's Health Magazine's Web site (rodale) and it looks like the site first tests the validity of the account information you provide by charging $1.00 to it.
Had a missed call from this number on my cell phone. Haven't tried to purchase anything from Men's Health although I subscribe to their "Eat This, Not That" email newsletter.
Had a missed call from this number stating he was from US Bank Fraud Prevention as well. My credit card was also attempted on this day for a charge coming from South Africa.
Got a call from 414-765-4321 they stated they were from fraud protection and that my credit card ending in (xxxx) had been "compromised" and subsequently cancelled. I was to look for a new card to arrive in the mail. They did not ask for any of my info, they already seemed to have all of that. Since they did all the telling and none of the asking I'm going to believe this was a legit call. Guess in a day or so I'll see if a new card arrives.
