I got a similar call while I was out and the caller identified himself as Justin Johnson from IRS Tax resolution and to call him immediately regarding a very sensitive issue regarding taxes owed and if I didn't call back there would be legal consequences. He had a very strong Indian accent, very difficult to understand. Do not answer if they call but report to IRS and FBI.
I got same call from same person yesterday claiming they were from IRS. When I questioned them, they hung up. I kept calling them they blocked me. Later in the day, the number was disconnected. Today I got called with a similar number. They won't answer a return call. It's all a scam. Ignore it
Got a call from 415 230 2877 from a guy who seemed like English was not his native language. He claimed to be from IRS but seemed hesitant, uncertain and had wrong name for family member. Did not seem professional.
The whole thing didn't smell right. I was going to look up real phone number for IRS and get verification but figured it was a waste of my time.
Same thing just happened to me. When I initially picked up the phone, it was "dead", so I hung up, but then a voicemail came through for someone named Randell and then my surname (no-one here named Randell). Sounded as though he was from the Indian subcontinent and was VERY hesitant. Said his name was Michael Morgan, Tax Litigation Department and that there were deficiencies in my income tax. Advised me or my attorney to call this number before legal action is taken, then gave a reference number. Said I shouldn't try to record the message -- what a dope! Surely no-one would believe this is legitimate.
My friend got a call from this number. He said his name is Hollis Jackson and that she owes 16,000 to IRS and will be arrested. She is making a report to attorney general and I suggest everyone else call their police department and report or ask for procedure.
