I received a recorded message from this number purporting to be the IRS. I am taking this number to the local IRS office to let know someone is using the IRS in a scam.
My husband just got the voicemail on his cell. Glad folks have posted about it here! Same M.O.
He's planning to call back and swear at them. Not sure if that's the way to go but it will probably make him feel better.
Seriously, amazing that people have nothing better to do than be scamming idiots.
I received a voice mail from "Officer Julie Smith" of the IRS from this number. It sounded computer generated and was rather threatening in the way it directed me or my "retained attorney of record" to contact them immediately before they take any action against me. Thankfully, I checked for possible scams before returning the call. I was definitely saved by this information!

this man called and said that he had a casefile in front of him saying that i owed moneyand when i told him that i didnt owe the irs anything he started getting rude with me.i hung up on him and then decided to try tocall back and when i did the same man answered the phone.i told him that i wanted to talk to an american and he told me that the american was under his desk sucking his di**.someone needs to do something about all these damn [***] in our country thinking that we owe them something because i know that IDON'T
After several missed phone calls from 415-234-9585, my wife picked up and listened to one claiming to be from the IRS and asking for someone or our authorized representative to call back @ 415-234-9585. This is a scam. I reported the scam to the Treasury Inspector General's office at http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml
