these bozos call and when I answer, there's a 5 second wait and a robot voice says "goodbye" and hangs up.

Same thing here. I think it is a telemarketing co. Just seeing who will answer. Fortunately this is my cell phone, so I can put up a call block and never hear from them again.

We received a call from this number this afternoon.  short delay in the voice, then a woman's slightly accentedvoice asked for a name - firt name same as my husband's and last name quite similar to my husband's. I replied that they had a wrong number and hung up.

I work at an insurance company, and over the past 7 days I've received 4 calls from this number. No one says a word, they wait, then hang up.

I just got the same call, silence for about 5 secs. then a recording that says goodbye. I'm labeling this number as do not answer on my cell phone.
