Received a call from a man with an accent stating his name was Michael Green, and he stated that he was with A-1 Cash Advance. He had a very heavy middle eastern accent.
He had my name, phone number, address, DOB, credit score, bank name and possibly account numbers (I wouldn't let him say them over the phone). He then asked me to confirm my SSN number and Driver's license number, both of which he had, but I didn't confirm if what he had was accurate.
He informed me that I had been approved for a loan that I had applied for, and that it came with free insurance that was provided by the federal government. He told me that they would deposit the money into my account to pay the federal government for the insurance, and that once they received the notification, that I transferred the money into my account that they would then deposit the full amount of the loan to my account. He then proceeded to ask me for my online login and password to my account, as they would need that to deposit the money to my account.
I informed him that what he was doing didn't sound legit or even legal. He tried to repeat the "script" to me, but I interrupted him, and ultimately ended the call.
Mine was from "Adam Baker" His accent was so thick the only thing I could understand was his name, the phone number and to call him back before "legal allegations" began. Maybe the [***] should get their English down before they started this! I just called him three times from my work number and told him I thought he was a piece of crap and if he called me again I was going to the police. He was freaking out saying "POLICE, POLICE???" That's right buddy boy. POLICE! I work for an accounting firm and know for a fact the IRS does not call you like this. They always mail a letter to you first.
recv'd a call from the #415-251-1037 and picked up and said hello but nobody answered for 30 seconds so hung up. next thing i hear is a voicemail from these guy, who has a very think INDIAN accent, couldn't even understand more than half of his voicemail. Only heard something about IRS and so did some searching, definitely SCAM.
Just received the same call at home from a "Robert Cantrell", claiming to be from the IRS, 415-251-1037. Immediately reported the number to [email protected] - if enough calls get reported perhaps the IRS will do something about it.
wow, seriously, recv'd another car from this number above. is there any way to stop this scam/fraud. and it's the same indian accent getting on my nerves
The guy who called me was "Michael Johnson." He had a thick accent -- I could barely understand him -- and made the same threats as above, saying he was the IRS. He asked me to call him back at 415-251-1037 immediately and threatened litigation.
