I am getting calls sayin that i was used as a reference for a payday loan that isnt getting paid. they are also saying that it is my fault and i am now a criminal...Who would put their sons gf as a reference on a payday loan. I am 19!!! SERIOUSLY!!! I work in a office and i dont need some one calling my cell phone when i am at work... its not an emergency to me... if she dont pay the loan it isnt my fault... i never gave her permission to use my number or use me as a reference for that fact!!!!
I received the same call today. I didn't get the missed call but than I checked my voicemail an he said he was working for the government and their was a lawsuit against me for 3 counts and to call the number back by tomorrow. So initially it didn't click but he mentioned me personal info in the call so I called when the guy came on I told him I didnt wanna hear [***] press charges, and and arrest me because it didn't make any sense. The called me two times right after that like they were retarded or something. Anyways being that they had my info I alerted my banks and placed fraud alerts on all of my credit reports. I think they are done bothering after the rough time I gave them but if they contact me again I will call the cops.

I have been getting calls from foreign people, they sound as if they are middle eastern, and they claim that they are calling me before they put 3 charges against my SSN. They claim they are from investigations. Talk about giving vague info. They called me at 4 in the morning and stated that unless I fax a letter stating that a Jeff Mackenzie could remove nearly $800 using my Debit card and cv code. In a panic, I did as asked, but later that day, after careful consideration, I decided to call back, and ask them for some credentials, and information regarding the matter. They told me that it was confidential and that after they remove the money, then I would recieve proof. At this point, I faxed another letter stating that I am NOT going to be releasing any funds until I recieve these 'confidential' items. Then I went to my bank, changed my card and cut up the card. They have continued to call me, threatening my job and that I would go to court and have to pay 5000 in fees and fines. They have even called my mother in law and told her that since I used her as a reference, she will be in trouble also. I am prepared to turn in all that I have to hopefully get these guys in serious trouble, and once they call me again, it is them that will have the lawsuit against them. I wanted to mention this in the hopes that they don't trick someone else. If your gut feeling is telling you that this sounds fake, listen to it. God Bless. They are scammers also, there is no way that you are in trouble. DO NOT TAKE it seriously. The truth is, you could easily get references just by opening a phone book. They are scammers. I would suggest letting your boss(es) know the situation so that they too can ignore the bogus calls. Also, if you do happen to answer the phone, tell them that you are monitoring and recording the call and that it will be used in your defense and that if they call again, it is harrassment, and you will report them to the police, the BBB and possibly go all the way to the FBI. I received a call on 8/26/2011 from 415-251-8004 (Alex Christopher representing the Consumer Fraud and Business Administration) claiming that legal actions would be taken against because I owed a payday loan and advised me that I needed to get an attorney if I did not have one. The caller advised that once I get an attorney to call 818-863-9751 regarding this issue. The caller later called me place of employment and asked if I had an attorney I repeatedly asked the caller not to call my job anymore but to no avail he keep taling about my needing to get an attorney. I have asked that they send me something in writing and to this day I still have not received anything, I have report them to the Better Business Bureau, Federal Trades Commission, local law enforcement, etc.
