I called back after the daily call to my phone. Its a debt collector. The automated message prompted me to press 1 or 2 if I was or was not the person they were looking for. I pressed 2 for no on a daily basis but they continue to call daily.
I was getting calls from this number every day and I finally called and got them to stop. Well just over the last 2 days I starting getting calls again. The caller ID will display "Global Connect" or 'UNKNOWN NAME", I'm not sure why it's different on different days. Anyway I always answer the calls if I can. It's obviously a debt collection company and it's always for someone else. I press the number they instruct me to in their recording to tell them they have the wrong number and they provide this number to call them back and report it: 858-633-8250. Today when I tried to call them back I got a recording that "this account is blocked". This may be some type of harassment ploy but I'm not really sure.
I had called and called and finally got them to stop. However they just started calling my phone again and now when I try to call them back to report they have the wrong number I get a recording that says "this account is blocked". I'd be interested in knowing who it is they are looking for when they call you? Just wondering if they use the same name all the time. Are their initials JW?
I keep getting calls, almost daily, shows as either UNKNOWN or OUT OF AREA in the caller ID, I usually press 2, but today I pressed 1, waited and was connected to a guy who "verified" I was who I said I was, and was told that I had a past due account of over $1,000.00 from Provision Bank, I asked if it was a credit card, he said it was and that it was from 2005 past due. Seriously? My credit was so bad I couldn't get a gas station to loan me a quarter!! I have never even heard of Provision Bank, and I haven't ever had any dealings with them. I told the guy that I wanted him to note on the account that they have on me that this is case of IDENTITY THEFT, and that I would be reporting it to all credit agencies and all legal agencies that HE was attempting to use my information for whatever purposes HE planned to use it for, and that he better put a note on there immediately. From now on, when I see the phone number, I'll hit the TALK button, then immediately hit the OFF button. I believer they're scammers.
I received a call from this number yesterday. I answered and they had my name. When the person came on the line and "verified" me, they said I owed some bank over $500 from 2005 and wanted to know how I would like to make the initial payment. I told them that I am not aware of owing any bank and will not pay something I am not aware of. She stated she would email me the information and I should receive it in a few hours... I'm still waiting for their so-called-proof.
