Here is why you never want to answer these calls or provide any information, even for something 'free'.
I got an email from one of these spammers yesterday:

Another call from White Paper Plains a long list of telemarketers, spammers and sellers of information no one want sold.
These calls take a lot of non-productive time and are useless. Evidently they make money on it or they would stop calling.
I've never had them say they are representing a paper company, just that they want to speak to the head of IT or some common first name "Can I speak to Mary/John/Nick?". When I offer to take a message they refuse and usually hang up on me. One time I pretended to be the head of IT and was asked for my title and business. How do you not know what company I work for? You were just asking for "specific" people here...
Same thing for me - they repeatedly call, ask to verofy my info. I ask who is this and what info do you need verified - where did you get my info - what is this in regard to. Answers are: we just need to update your info soi we can send you an IT Solutions whitepaper. I tell them I don't want it. They want to talk to an IT Manager. I tell them our IT is huge with several manager. I ask for their info so I can properlyt route the call. "Josh" won't give me the info and says they don't have a number we can call back at. I ask him to take me off his call lisyt. He says no and hangs up. He calls back! We go through the same conversation. I ask for a supervisor or manager - he says they don't have one and hangs up on me again. I call the number back - it says Press 9 to be added to the do not call list. I did this and highly doubt it will work. I have received several calls form them and have never provided them any "updated information". Annoyed.
