SCAM!! Microsoft does not call you unless you have called them first. There is also no way for a third party other than perhaps your Internet company to know that you have a virus. If you have good antivirus software, and Microsoft Essentials is sufficient, you will not be infected with a virus. Microsoft has a warning on their website about this type of scam:
Had phone call from above number stating that they were Microsoft support and that our computer is going to crash if we do not log on and take instructions from them.

They called claiming to be from microsoft...lots of noise in the background from another telemarketer on the phone with someone else. Told me I had lots of "bad stuff" on my computer in the last two weeks. When I asked for their phone number, they gave me this number, which of course doesn't work.
Claimed they were calling from Microsoft and they had been tracking my computer for the last month and it had been infected with a virus and they would help me clean up the virus. Told them I have a company that looks after my computer and I did not trust someone calling from dear knows where. Asked them for their phone number and when I called the number it said it is not in service.
