Female caller said that she was with a collection company, I don't recall the name, then she told me to wait for an account manager. This guy comes on and says their attorney turned over a file to them about an unpaid account with Bank Of America on a credit card. He was offering me a settlement of half. Then he said we could set up a payment account through my bank or through a credit card to pay it. I simply told him to send me something in writing showing the claim was legal. We went back and forth and finally he said that they do the same thing with all their customers. He then said "we can't drive to Columbia" I cut him off right there and told him I knew this was a scam because I do not live in Columbia. I then hung up.

Have gotten the same call from two different numbers. First was female, didn't say she was collecting a debt. But would settle a 10 year old debt for half - same story - give them my bank info. Second was a male from different area code. You can't get a name or address from them. Have notified the proper federal agency. It's a scam!!
