My mom gets these when someone uses their phone card, usually from Costco, she has a blocked phone # and in order to get through the caller has to announce their name through this service. It actually is a help when my brother calls her as he is undesirable at the time and she can hang up!
I answered this call at 9:30 pm Pacific and an automated voice said to press one to see who was calling. I just hung up. Then I got a call from 415-545-0009 and my called ID said Take a Message. The very garbled voice sounded like a woman crying saying the patment on my TV from Sears was due. I have never bought a TV from Sears and I just said excuse me and I hung up.

When someone with block id calls you, the phone company tells them that you are not able to take callers with blocked id and instruct them to press a series of number to get through.
so remember, it could be from a collection company or from a person you know.
