Follow-up on my 12/15/07 post ("I'd seen this number in the evenings and never answered it. But this morning, they started..."). Tonight, FINALLY, there was someone on the other end! It did sound like it was really the Red Cross, and they wanted to schedule me to come in to donate blood.
I told the caller all about this problem, including the fact that if she Googled this number she'd find many reports of the problem.
Because this was first time, out of many calls, that there was actually a person who answered, I asked her if they used an autodialer. She said yes. I suggested that it was poorly adjusted, because it's putting out many more calls than they can handle. (Of course, there's NO reason for them to call me at 6:30 Saturday morning like they did last weekend.)
FYI... Go to the non-blood issues and submit a complaint to the American Red Cross at the following website. Perhaps if they get enough of these they will address the issue.
