These calls are not authorized by or coming from the Blood Centers of the Pacific.
Someone is using one of our phone number to mask or "spoof" the actual caller ID. We have reported this to AT&T, the SF Police, FTC and the California's Attorney General as corporate identity theft. Unfortunately there is little that we can do and it's not possible to trace who or where these calls are coming from.
We have been inundated with calls, complaining of requests for personal information and have been forced to remove all phones from this number. Caller is using an automated system and saying they are the blood center and looking for information regarding HealthNet insurance claim.
If you have disclosed any information to the caller, please contact your local police department and the Federal Trade Commission to report a possible identity theft . The FTC has an online complaint form at: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
