I received a text on August 3rd, 2010 from this number. There was no attachment; so when I read the text it was advertising "weather alerts". I didn't sign up for any weather alerts; so I didn't think anything about it. That is until all of my pictures, video, and music we ALL deleted! EVERYTHING was gone just like that! My contacts were not touched; so this seems to affect only the memory card. Hysterical, I called Verizon to see if they could help, but they had no idea how a text message could flush a memory card! My husband also received a text from a 415 number but luckily I was able to warn him. I have never heard of a virus through a text message so that is why I was not worried about reading it. Yes, DUMB mistake! Please don't make the same mistake that I did! BEWARE!!!!!!
I received the same message. "Get FREE daily weather conditions and forecast on your mobile. Reply with 5 digit zip code for location to subscribe. STOP to end Msg rates may apply." I figured it was some bad text number and searched the number and found this. Thanks for posting what happens if you do reply.
That's just it, I didn't reply! I simply read it. Even though there was no attachment, just by hitting the "view now" button opened up the virus. I am STILL sick over this whole thing. On the flip side, I'm really glad that I was able to warn someone.
