The Sheriff's office also told me that if they were to call me again, which they did this morning, to tell them to send me a registered letter in the mail. When I told them this, he was a little hesitant on doing so, however said I will receive it in 5-9 days. I highly doubt I will get anything via mail.
I had been recieving phone messages fom "County Abitration" and tried to call back, and noone ever answered.
I finally answered a call rom 415-735-3782 claiming to be from county abitration saying I hd a payday loan that was no repaid. When I stated that I had never gotten a payday loan, sh said it was fom 2005, and that they were trying o resolve it or I would be supeoned. Again I state that I hd never taken a payday loan, and she hung up on me. Scary thing is she had my social scurity number.
This same thing just happened to me yesterday. They called my cell phone, said I also had a $400.00 payday loan out in 2005 that was never paid for. They said the exact same thing to me that I would be supeoned as well if I don't resolve this issue. The gentleman on the other line was "in a nice way" demanding that I give him my credit card information over the phone. I told him I have never recieved a payday loan nor a letter from colllections about this. So I asked him if he can e-mail me something showing that I owe this (which I knew I didn't) and he said, sure, I will be right back. So he put me on hold for about a minute, then when he came back he proceeded to tell me that the department that sends out the e-mails is completely swamped right now and they could get ot to me by the morning. (today) Which they did send me an e-mail, however looks like a 5 year old typed it up. Not even on letterhead or anything. So, last night I spoke to a close friend of my family who is a Sherrif and he said this looks like a total scam. First, they gave me two out of state numbers, one in Maryland, one in Washingtom DC, then one in my county. Very strange. Then when I asked the guy for their website so i can take a look at their company, he said "I'm sorry, we don't have any information online due to 9-11, we are getting death threats. NOT TRUE at all. All of NYPD infomation is still online, creditors info in NY are still on line..... Can't get their story straight!!!This is FRAUD and I gave my friend, who is the Sherriff all the phone numbers and address I had for these crooks. Phone numbers I received are: 410-630-4336 (Maryland) 760-407-3702 (sounds like a cell phone) and 415-735-3782 (Washington DC)
I forgot to mention, not only did he have my cell phone number, he had my SS#, home address and my son's cell phone number and he is a MINOR!!!!! Highly scary and ILLEGAL!!!!
I really don't think they are a legit company. I called the Sheriff's office last and they said sounds like a complete fraud. They sound like a company, if you want to call them a company, that is set out to scam as many people as they can and get as much money from them as they can. Did they also give you the same phone numbers that I posted earlier?
