I have no idea who these people might be. I do not answer phone calls from numbers with which I am not familiar. This is evidently from an automated system as my phone service disconnects from it less than 30 seconds into the recorded message.
Received a bunch of calls in rapid succession this morning, First was 866-466-4482 (Allied Interstate LLC or someone pretending to be them) and immediately following was this number 415-735-3783 (San Francisco CA) I'm reasonably sure the two are connected, there's no other reason I can think of for them to call immediately following each other like that.
So this number may be a part of or affiliated with the Allied Interstate/Allied Collections etc scammers/shady debt collectors.
Caller left no message, but I returned the call to identify the caller, blocking my own number (doesn't work with toll free services, eg 800, 866, 877). Their recording said "All of our agents are still busy, please hold." After several repeats of the recording, a male voice surprised me with "hello." I explained that I was returning their phone call. He asked if I was Shawn Osborne. I have been receiving debt collections calls about this identity thief for over 9 years, which I explained to this "male voice'. Predictably, he immediately disconnected without so much as a fare-thee-well.
As soon as I inform these agents, they disconnect and, apparently, quickly sell the number to another debt collector who doesn't bother to verify the lists, just like this caller, trying to cut their losses on my phone number. (I always hope they paid dearly for it.) The only solution I've found that works (sort of) is a call blocking device. My phone company provides "call blocking," but it only works for ten numbers, so I bought one that works for 12,000 numbers (love it!). So, for now, if the calls suddenly stop for one of the collections companies and a new one picks up, at least I'll know which pest called this time.
A female told me her name was Tricia, and the company name was illegible. She asked me to verify my address to make sure she had the right person, and I refused. I told her I would not verify any information without knowing who she was and the reason for the call. She kept repeating "this is TRICIA, with (illegible company name)." Even though I asked her to repeat the company several times, she continuously mumbled it, even though everything else she said was perfectly clear. She refused to tell me what the call was regarding and hung up on me.
