Number showed up on my caller ID, didn't answer, of course. re; above post, Using a phone sex number as a caller ID spoof? What kind of tricks will these scumbag telemarketers come up with next?
Got a call from 415-765-4321 today Wednesday, at about 1:45 in the afternoon. The caller ID said CALIFORNIA. I googled the number, and came up with multiple indications it is the number of a phone-sex outfit in San Francisco called US Love, or Atena. On another site like this one, several callers said this number called, with the ID being ATENA. So, it looks like we are being recruited here in Pennsylvania to patronize a phone-sex business. However, not so fast -- on one "Who calls me?" site, this message was posted twice:
"We believe a telemarking company is calling people on the East Coast with our phone # showing on the caller id. Antena /USLove IS NOT making these calls to your homes as we do not make any outgoing calls.
"We apologize for the inconvienice. If someone can post the a name, the company and maybe a callback # to them - we greatly appreciate this so that we may stop these calls from happening with our phone #."
So, go figure....somebody is pestering us, that is all we need to know, I suppose. Do not answer.

About 5 weeks ago I started receiving phone calls from "Private Number Calling" numbers and additional numbers that other people have reported on this site. When I answered, no one was on the line. I also have had two calls from a company asking me if I was a person who I confirmed worked for me. He asked me to do this so he could get his repossessed vehicle returned. I don't know if they are related but if I can determine they are and find out the agency involved, I'm ready to file suite against them for harassment.
Received call from phone number 415-765-4321 today Wednesday 11/24/2010 at 1353hrs East Coast time. I am in Connecticut. The caller was a female, with what sounded like a 'foreign' accent, possibly Hispanic, but speaking fairly fluent English. She sounded like she could fall in the age range of between perhaps 18 and 35 years. She said that her name was "Anna" and that she was calling as a representative of "Medic Alert", and added, "... you know, the ad where the women says 'Ive fallen and can't get up"? I advised "Anna" that congratulations she had just called a number which has been actively listed on the Federal DO NOT CALL LIST and had just broken US Federal law. She told me, "Well that law doesn't apply here". I then insisted on speaking with her supervisor, to which she told me that the Manager was not available. I terminated the call soon after that and Googled the phone number and found this site.
