Today 4/24, I got the similar call at 1:15pm. The guy said he was from SDG&E, this was an emergency call and this was the last notification. They were going to install the device on my meter this afternoon. Asked me to dial "1" to speak to a customer service. When I dial 1, a women answer, when I asked who they were, she hung up.
The reason I dialed "1" was because I have never heard about this, and no one should be allowed to modify my meter without my permission.
Automated dialer message. Stated they were "SDG&E and they needed to install my smartmeter or my rates will go up 14%. They have been trying to reach me, and this is the last attempt. Press 1 to speak to someone." geez. I would think what they are doing is illegal?
Got a call from this number and when I went to answer it they did not say anything, so I hung up and tried to call it back. When I called it back, I got a recording saying "To be removed from this call list, press any number on your phone and that it may take 24-48 hour to be removed from this list". I then pressed 1 on my phone it the recording responded saying "Good-bye". I am in San Diego, that is why I was surprised to get a call from the San Francisco Area Code. Don't get fooled by these electric company scammers!!!!
