Got a call asking if this was a provincial office (it's not). Was prepared for a "wrong number sorry" but then he asked for the owner and what kind of business it is. I asked what is was regarding & he got quite rude & aggressive, then hung up when I said he should just call back for the owner. Seriously, you call the wrong number and just want to chat, asking random questions for 'informational purposes'? Scam.
Got a call from "Regis" at Toronto Police Magazine selling advertising. He knew my business's name and asked for the owner. He described their distribution and wanted me to place an ad. I replied that his market was not my target market. He then suggested that I could support the police by placing a generic ad, something like "congratulations to the police". This started to sound like police extortion, and I knew that something was very wrong. I emphatically told him that I was not interested. After we hung up, I called the number shown on call display, and it was non-existent, i.e. this number. Definitely a scam.
Super unprofessional person selling ad space in a magazine to show support for the TPS - I asked for the media kit and was told he would just tell me over the phone. I told him I don't take pitches over the phone, and he sounded really annoyed. Told him he could send me the media kit and he didn't really care so I cut the call short.
