Annoying or not,the Historica Dominion is a real chartiy.I have donated a couple of times in the past because I like what they are doing. But yes,I also grow weary of telemarketers and people sociliting for donations.I give when I can. That's all.To that end,I bought an answering machine and calll display.I almost never answer if I don't know who is calling.Calls from the USA annoy me the most.I NEVER answer them.
had a call from this number as well. also claiming to be the historica dominion institute for memory project as well. they asked for someone in particular, like a mr. nadel or something, said wrong number, no one by that name lives here, he said maybe i could help. listened to the spiel, and at the end said i was broke, said could i help with even $25 dollars, said no, he promptly said thank you and hung up. totally a scammer looking for cash. the background noise was way too generic sounding, didn't sound right for a call center, having worked in a few myself.
Got a call from the same lady this afternoon. Gave me the whole run-down. I said I never give over the phone because I need to research the cause first (I don't like pressure tactics). She asked if she could mail me a donation package. I said no because I didn't want to receive more paper. I did ask her for the web site address though at which point she said she would mark me down as "not interested".
At one point in the conversation, she referred to veterans as veterinarians. I called her on it.
