actel voice information processing called me, it was a women who called me repeatedly on my cellphone. when i spoke to her she told me to dail 416-640-6245, she wanted to keep me on my cell phone while i followed her instruction on a landline. she told me there was a problem with my voicemail (inadvertally representing herself as a rogers wireless employee). i had to record my voice mail greeting several times, as well as my name. she told me that the messages were not long enough and made me repeat them several times. she also wanted me to do the same for the french system. apparently because that was where the internal problem was - she then called me back and told me to repeat the french instructions again.
long story short, i called rogers and there was never a problem with my voicemail

Same thing happened to me. Had someone call telling me that they were a rogers representative (didn't give a name) saying that there may be a glitch happening with my voicemail, and then gave me a 10 step process to follow that sounded like I was going into someone elses voicemail and recording a message and name for them. When they asked me to read the steps back, I said it sounded insane and that I would call Rogers to double check this. They then tried to give me a 416 number for Rogers. I called the 1 888 number, and Rogers tested my voicemail (which was fine) and said they did not have any reports of anyone calling me. This is some kind of scam, but I'm not sure how the people calling are benefiting from this.
Getting this problem with some lady at bell. So incredibly annoying. I get the call once a month to do these steps and often have to repeat them if the message wan't long enough or if I wasnt speaking clearly enough. I called bell to ask them if this is really necessary. I was transferred to several different departments. No one had any recollection of this procedure, and there was no record of me getting these calls. The next time the lady called me I asked to opt out from this "service".
