They are a collection agency contracted by the Ontario government to collect outstanding OSAP loans, some going back 20+ years. My advice to people who had their loan issued prior to 2004 is don't bother speaking with them because you'll be speaking to a $12/hour phone agent with no authority. If your loan has been issued prior to 2004, the only thing they can do is try to collect and if you have any tax refunds or HST credits due to you, those will be applied to the debt until it's paid off. However, they cannot go to court UNLESS you make contact with them and start making payments again. Loans issued after 2004 are not stat barred. One tactic they use is if you make a payment arrangement, they will call you back the following month trying to get you to pay off the entire balance. Even if you pay off your loan in full through the collection agency, the collection note remains on your bureau for six years. So thread carefully because doing the "right thing" here may not necessarily work out in your favour, especially if it's a very old loan.
My son is recieving calls from this number an extention #5139 the male will not allow him to speak with a manager nor set up a payment arrangement! He is very ignorant with not one ounze of compassion People forget what it is like when your down and trying to get yourself back up after finally finding a job and fix your debits, is not an easy task. Ignorance is not a way to deal with people especially when my son is really trying. We never know when we may be in the same situation some day. How would you like to be treated? He wants to pay it but he does not want this ignorant person and this guy wont even let him talk to a manager so I called and he was very ignorant to me.Why work with the public if you have no people skills? I will find a way to get him reported in all my years this was a first!
